Late Shri Baburaoji Gholap

Founder of PDEA

The Pune District Education Association (PDEA), founded in 1941, is one of the most respected and socially committed educational institutions in Maharashtra. Its inception was inspired by the noble vision of Late Shri Baburaoji Gholap, whose lifelong mission was to bring quality education within the reach of the common people. Guided by the principle “Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay,” he firmly believed that true development of society can only be achieved through accessible and value-based education.

At a time when higher education opportunities were limited, especially for rural and economically weaker families, Shri Baburaoji Gholap realized the urgent need to establish institutions that would offer affordable and inclusive learning. His dedication laid the foundation for an educational movement that empowered thousands of students across Pune district.

He emphasized not only academic growth but also character-building, social responsibility, and community development. His compassionate leadership and commitment to equality inspired many educators and social workers to join his mission. Under his guidance, PDEA grew steadily, establishing schools and colleges in various disciplines, including arts, science, commerce, pharmacy, engineering, and vocational studies.

Today, PDEA continues to uphold his values of service, inclusiveness, discipline, and excellence. His legacy remains the guiding force behind PDEA’s continued growth and contribution to society.
