Pune District Education Association?s SETH GOVIND RAGHUNATH SABLE COLLEGE OF PHARMACY, SASWAD Department of Pharmacology Pharmacology is the science concerned with all aspects of the action of drugs and other chemicals on living systems. Its primary aim is the discovery of chemical mechanisms by which cellular and molecular functions are regulated for the purpose of understanding how existing drugs act and to develop new drugs for treatment and diagnosis of human diseases. Department of Pharmacology in PDEA?s Seth Govind Raghunath Sable College of Pharmacy was established in 1993. The department offers the master?s program in Pharmacology since 2007. Currently, there are 3 faculties and 6 Postgraduate students in the Department. The department is involved in taking lectures and practicals of B.Pharm & M.Pharm students. Program M Pharm Pharmacology Department of Pharmacology offers M. Pharm which is approved by PCI, AICTE, DTE and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. To cater the opportunity in the field of Pharmacological research the department carries all kind of researches in broad areas of preclinical pharmacology and toxicological research. Department has well qualified faculty which are dedicated to academic and research. This is a two-year program comprising four semesters designed to provide advanced training in various aspects of pharmacology, molecular biology, pre-clinical & clinical drug development and pharmacotherapeutics. There are excellent experiments to be carried out in each of these areas, which equip the student with skills for research. The program has tremendous scope and students who emerge successfully have various career options. They are a much sought-after tribe in academia and industry. They can enter the teaching profession, find employment in pharmaceutical companies in R&D, clinical research organizations, medical writing as well as in research. In addition, there is a separate store cum preparation room aiding the routine practical work. The department is provided with round the clock Internet connection to facilitate departmental work and also a state of the art instrument lab. Also, a separate CPCSEA approved spacious animal house, is another asset wherein breeding and housing of experimental animals as per standard guidelines is followed. Department has well updated library with well equipped laboratories with having digital sophisticated instruments, software etc. The department is equipped with sophisticated instruments like Plethysmometer, Power lab, Autoanalyser, Micro plate reader, Rotarod, Elevated plus maze, Actophotometer, Gel electrophoresis, PCR, Convulsometer, Hot plate etc. The department is more focused on publishing research papers in the different journals.
